This book will always hold a special place in my heart as it was a book my father read to me when I was a little girl, sparking my lifelong passion for reading.
I love this book! It's been ages since I've read it. Wilbur befriends a spider who forms a plan to save Wilbur from slaughter.

I read this to the girls-- my girls and it was great.
I had a lot of fun reading all the parts. And there are a lot of parts. I don't know how well you remember the story but there are 5 main adults, three named children, and a few other side characters filling out a couple of B-plots. The whole thing is really overstuffed with humans, especially considering the story is about a pig and a spider and a slew of other farm animals.
This is a great book to perform because it needs you to sell the phrase "some pig." It... kinda falls flat on the page since "some" isn't often used as a positive intensifier now like it (apparently) used to be. Plus the goose is, in particular, fun to act out.

One of my favorites as I child. Reread as an adult - bittersweet.
I don't remember the first time I read this book...I just remember always knowing the story. I naturally loved this book as a child and surprisingly enough loved it with the same enthusiasm as I read it today. Not much else to be said. Its is a perfect childrens book.

Read for 52 Book Club Challenge 2025 31) Audiobook has multiple narrators.
Can't believe it has taken me more than 50 years to read this children's classic. It is a timeless tale exploring death, friendship, growing up and the power of words and a friend's belief in you. It is utterly charming and poignant. The audiobook narrated by Meryl Streep and a full cast was also brilliant - highly recommended.
