Fun enough, but annoyed that in all the buildup it wasn't made clear that this was just a collection of three already published stories and two intros to other series.
RECOMMEND TO:
Middle and elementary school children, though it can be said that Rick Riordan books truly have no age limit.
Carter, Sadie, Annabeth, and Percy are back in this novel that takes place between Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus, in a previously empty time slot that has been filled with the part sass-part poignancy-part adventure that Riordan is best known for.
An evil sorcerer is combining Greek letters and Egyptian incantations in an attempt to become a God. Percy and Carter clash with distrust, while Annabeth and Sadie meet peaceably and unite to defeat a three-headed beast loose in the New York subway. Brushes with death, Percabeth action, and the odd “Persassy” comment will keep fans of Riordan’s books racing through the pages.

I really enjoyed this. While I never read any of the Kane chronicles, you can still read this as a stand alone and understand and enjoy it fully.
I always love getting to see Percy through the eyes of someone else bc he never takes himself seriously. He’s far more impressive than he lets on. Also enjoyed getting to meet some of the other characters from series I haven’t read.
