Well Percy Jackson crossed over with The Kane Chronicles and that was cool but I feel like this story was underdeveloped. Maybe an entire book would've been better? I think team PJO and the Kane's where to quick to trusting each other. It was like Kane: "oh hey I'm a magician and the Egyptian gods exist" Percy\Annabeth: "oh cool bro let's go fight this super bad dude I love you so much you are one of my bestest friends and what's your name again?" Also why was it just Percy and Annabeth meeting Carter and Sadie? If this where a whole book then we could've had the Seven meets Brooklyn House and that would've been interesting. Overall this was okay but not amazing like PJO and TKC where.

"Is your brother's name Carter?" Annabeth asked.
An angry golden aura flickered around Sadie's head-a halo of hieroglyphs that resembled frowns, fists, and dead stick men.
"As of this moment," Sadie growled, "My brother's name is Punching Bag.”

This was the crossover I was craving after reading The Kane Chronicles trilogy! I was so excited to have the Kane siblings back AND interacting with Percy and Annabeth! They really compliment each other and the dynamics here was just right and funny. I liked how the short stories were linked between them to the climax in The Crown of Ptolemy and though it was interesting to have Annabeth's POV in one of the stories since we first see the boys teaming up, then the girls and finally the four of them together as they mixed Egyptian and Greek magic, I would have liked to get Sadie's or Carter's POV in one of those - I missed their narration, especially Sadie's (also known for a fact as the lovechild of Percy & Annabeth). And though I left this book craving more Egyptian adventures ( I so wish Rick would write more on the Kanes!), it was amazing and all I could hope for in a crossover!

SON OF SOBEK
4.5 STARS
The crossover that I didn’t know I needed! Percy and Carter are both so utterly hilarious and the amount of times that I burst out laughing in this story were immeasurable. I loved the story and thought that the plot was really interesting, and I’m so excited to continue with the crossover series! I really loved the pairing of Carter and Percy, and I’m excited to see more of them together!

THE STAFF OF SERAPIS
5 Stars

Oh my gods I loved this so much! I really enjoyed the first story but this one really took it to another level and why do I wanT AN ANNABETH AND SAIDE SERIES NOW????

Honestly, these two powerful women in one story is something that I didn’t know that I wanted and now I’m so obsessed! Honestly, the dynamic between Annabeth and Sadie is impeccable and I genuinely wish that we got to see more of them together! They are both such powerful and amazing characters and I am so glad that Rick decided to do a crossover between them!

Also, the difference in this story compared to the first one is frankly hilarious to me. Carter and Percy are really suspicious of each other and Annabeth and Sadie just decide to make friends <3

Finally, I’ve just gotta mention how much I love Sadie. Maybe it’s because I’m British, maybe it’s because she’s hilarious, but either way, she is just such an icon and made me laugh out loud many times.

Honestly, I just really love this story and I seriously hope that the third one holds up!

CROWN OF PTOLMEY
5 Stars

I found this one really great. Percy’s narration style? Impeccable! The overall energy? Fantastic.

Honestly, I take back what I said about Sadie and Annabeth - Sadie and Percy are the true dynamic team! And Percy’s narration about Sadie was flawless! So hilarious.

Percy’s sarcastic humour is one of my favourite things about this series and I really love his hilarious commentary!

However, I do wish that we’d gotten a story from Sadie’s perspective as she is such a queen and I genuinely adore her so much. But maybe she’s so iconic that Rick new she would outshine the others?

oh my god this is a dream come true, my two favorite riordan series finally have a crossover and im living for it. tbh, knowing me, i'd have been fine without any type of plot, even if they just ran into each other in a bakery buying pastries or whatever.

the son of sobek ★★★★ and 1/2
it was definitely my fave story in the book, and actually one i have already read in hungarian, but i enjoyed it just as much the second time. it has great humor, some action, the boys being lame, and the foreshadowing was well done too. also loved how they were wary of each other and it really did feel like two worlds meet that werent supposed to.

the staff of serapis ★★★ and 1/2
this is basically almost twice as long as the first short story, and due to that it definitely was dragging at times. i loved the meeting of course, also i found it funny that sadie and annabeth clicked instantly and talked about the whole greek-egyptian situation, while carter and percy tried to keep their worlds as far away as possible.
however, unfortunately i found the main villain in this annoying and a bit boring, so i didnt enjoy it as much.

the crown of ptolemy ★★★★
it was a nice conclusion to the short crossovers, i love setne, and oh my god, their scenes with percy were so awesome, i couldn't stop grinning throughout it. also the mixing of greek and egyptian stuff was done really well, it was a fun read again, but sometimes i got distracted while reading.

basically, this was everything i have ever wanted, i loved how each of them viewed the others, and i really want to see more, i mean, jesus, i'd be happy with them just going to grab a coffee in manhattan or the greek gang coming to brooklyn or whatever, and also the heroes of olympus meeting the kanes?? and meeting wanubis and zia and khufu, i probably want too much, but im really attached to the characters in the kane chronicles, so i hope to see them again.

That was a lot of fun.

This book is a collection of three short stories featuring Percy and Annabeth from Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Carter and Sadie Kane from The Kane Chronicles. They originally appeared in ebook format for the Kindle as: The Son of Sobek, The Staff of Serapis, and The Crown of Ptolemy. If you have already read those stories, the only real additions are: some nice art featuring scenes & characters from the stories and sneak peaks from Riordan's Magnus Chase and Apollo books.

While this book is meant for fans of one (or both) series, a new reader could possibly start with this book. The plot of this book is not really dependent on any previous adventures from either series. Any confusion that arises would be similar to meeting some friends for the first time while going to a new amusement park. They might mention something silly that happened to them in the past, or there might be pet names or jokes that you would not get being new, but for the most part everyone is in the same boat of being unfamiliar.

The Son of Sobek was a cute beginning. Carter Kane & Percy Jackson meet for the first time. If you are familiar with both characters, you already know how this meeting will go. It lays the seeds for the next ebook/section...

The Staff of Serapis. I really enjoyed this one much more than the first. Partially because I just enjoy Annabeth & Sadie more than Carter & Percy, but also because I enjoyed the interactions between them and felt like the story was just tighter. The plot thickens and the action ramps up leaving us with...

The Crown of Ptolemy. Oh! how I loved the ending. Finally, all the players are on the field. Finally, the big bad is revealed. And finally we see all four heroes working together. It was witty. It was fun. It was like going on a roller coaster with your best friends.

Laugh out loud funny!! Love these characters. If Riordan wrote something else with these four, I would snap it up in an instant!
