This was a short audible book (~4 hours) luckily for me, but is presented like a show. It’s basically all dialogue with different voices for each character, which I love. The story was interesting and kept you mostly guessing. Aaron Paul and Kristin Ritter did wonderfully, and helped bring the story alive in my mind. Great listen!

This was very much like an enjoyable crime drama on TV and I loved it.

The Coldest Case is a prequel to an existing crime/thriller series that I've not read, however this is a free title on Audible and had a stellar cast so I gave it a go.

The production and cast were wonderful.

The plot/writing were good, nothing amazing and some cringe things about e-sports but I'm probably more aware of terminology and the ~world~ of esports while not being an active viewer/fan but nothing so awful that the production as a whole didn't make up for. Aaron Paul and Krysten Ritter as brother and sister felt weird.

I doubt I'll be listening to any of the other titles in the series as I'm guessing the production and narrator will not be up to this standard, but I definitely would if they happened to be rerecorded with this cast (but I'm guessing the probability of that is low). I might pick up the books from the library to read with my eyes, but I'm not in a rush - the audio definitely added a lot to my enjoyment and the identifying of the characters.

A relatively big 0.5 book with running time of 3 hrs and 52 mins.
The Coldest Case has a highly entertaining audio performance! I fall into the category of liking the dramatization than hating it. It does have some drawbacks, although small, where sound effects and background noise can be distracting and make some dialogues difficult to hear. The story is decent, local politics and crime in Chicago and an undercover police get mixed up in a sting operation.
3⭐ for story
5⭐ for audio

Amazing. Done and I'm upset because I want more.

This book was really good. Reminded me of shows like NCIS or Criminal Minds. The cast was a lot of fun. While the story was fun, the audio production was even better. I want to read the other two books, but given that they're not audio dramas, I don't know if they would be as fun.

this felt like an AI writer compiled all cop story cliches and wrote a book. no real person or relatively experienced writer could come up with this. my 4 y/o friends' crayon sketch animals have more layers than the characters in this book. this is just James Patterson's cash grab and I don't feel good about it. if it wasn't a free audible book I would have never consumed it. very very disappointing, ugh.

super captivating!!! it was like i was watching a crime special on tv
