This was a strange one. I don't recommend listening with headphones while home alone. Or while driving the amount of background sounds was distracting.
I listened to the audible version of this and I really didn't like all the sound effects they used. It's like they were trying to make it like a movie or something with lots of overlapping sounds in stereo. I don't need to hear all the footsteps, doors opening, and music etc. It was just too distracting from the story and really annoying. I'd rather listen to the story like normal. The voices were all good but the story was short, not quite 4 hours. I saw that it was a prequal to a series with 3 books. The story reminded me of Blue Bloods and I think I would like the series but I definitely will just read the books.
3.5 Stars
My first time listening to an audio drama and it was like listening to a crime TV show. The story wasn't anything new or spectacular but still very enjoyable. I did feel like the comedy show bit was cringe worthy and unnecessary. Overall it was worth the listen.

Solid audible with great production value & performances.
The story is pretty run of the mill detective story, but I was never bored. The
ending will be the reason I seek out reading the sequel.
