Definitely not as good as Detective Conan, but I think this one may have been written first. They're quite a few logical gaps here, which is a bit surprising considering how much Aoyama focuses on logic in Detective Conan, but still fun.

Really wasn’t feeling this at all. I love Detective Conan and Kaito Kid’s appearances are some of my favorite moments in that series. In this though, his cases don’t seem as well thought out and aren’t as exciting.

I might try reading the other volumes just to see if things pick up, but it’s not the top of my list.

The stories can sometimes be a bit confusing. There is no real character development besides in the first chapter. I especially thought that the chapter "The ticking heart" was confusing at first, but the further you get into a chapter the more you understand it. I think the manga can be anjoyed on it´s own, but I would recommend watching the anime first.

Story: 5/5
Art: 2/5 (it was made in the 80s to be fair and i'm not an expert if this was good at the time so +1 only)
Characters: 4.5/5
Overall: 3.8/5
