This is a truly wonderful series and I seriously recommend picking them up.

Each of the books are pretty short, so going for these collections of three stories you’re getting much better value for your money and much more fun with each book.

If you’re a vampire fan, if you want something other than vampire romance, jump on this now!

When I was younger, I devoured these novels as quickly as I could get my hands on them! Looking back at the books with a more critical eye, they don't hold up as well. I loved Darren Shan's flair for the dramatic, he really can tell a story, but his writing style is not very sophisticated. Of course, these are meant for a younger audience. I rate Mr. Shan's writing mostly on what my inner Middle-Schooler thought, but I refrain from five stars as a nod to current me. Overall, I would encourage 5th grade- 9th grade readers to dive into these novels!

I didn't love re-reading this series as much as I did when I first read it, that's probably to do with age though. There is a big difference between being 10/11, then 14/15, and then 19.
I do think that there are some great life lessons, especially in these last 3 instalments.
It's crazy to think how much the ending affected me when I was 14/15 - I remember sobbing over everything that happened. This time around, I was much more level headed when reading it.
Not sure if I'll ever re-read this series again, possibly in 5-10 years time, or maybe when I've children of my own that are the appropriate age.
