Classic.

There's a typo on the copyright page; it says "The Authoritive Calvin and Hobbes". It also lists three ISBNs, and two of them have ten digits, but one of those is labeled as having thirteen digits. It confuses me.

And of course I've read this before. Like, ten years ago. More than that, I guess, because I learned the word "salubrious" from the extended comic at the beginning of the book by the fall of 2011 at the latest.

This book has genuinely shaped how I perceive things from a very young age; I've grown fond of this comic series my whole life. The concepts included go beyond surface-level children comics but contain panels that you would expect on shows like Bojack Horseman, existential dread. The text emphasizes how Calvin perceives the world as a child and shows how seeing things with an inexperienced eye can drastically change the whole outlook on a particular issue. Its comedy sketches are innovative and inspired, and the shorted one-strip comics are my favourite. The panels that showcase Calvin openly expressing his feelings behind adult realities illuminate an often sketched outfield of discussion. It has just the right blend of stories, humour and philosophy. Reading it now makes me reminisce the days I imagined I was a bug. Calvin and Hobbes tackle the theme of youthful imagination, and the comic executes it in a perfectly thoughtful and nostalgic manner. It has a certain freshness that I've never seen elsewhere, a book I am certainly getting for my future kids.

A large collection of the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that used to run daily in newspapers.  Watch as Calvin tries to hide his attraction to the Susie, runs polls that monitor his father's performance as dad and terrorizes his babysitter.   No better book to read that will make you laugh and raise your spirits.

I love Calvin and Hobbes above all of the comics I have collected. I am happy I am still able to read German well enough that I could understand almost all of this collection.
