The eye trauma was more than I was able to handle. I have issues watching things happen to eyes but I was hoping it wouldn't translate to books as well. I was, unfortunately, wrong. I never got to human eye trauma but the descriptive writing on the fish eyes told me what I needed to know.

I was compelled to read this book because I really thought the title was an interesting play on fetishization of Asian women. I didn’t realize that it would become so dark and the character so unredeemable. I wish it was gayer.

I feel frustrated by this one, ngl! Odd character choices, the tumor reveal made no sense to me and the gay yearning went nowhere… and yet there was such potential!!

Loved this book. Love reading when a character is going down a downward spiral. Not fully five stars just cos I found some of the dialogue/inner monologue a bit dramatic and over the top! Plus I started to feel it was a tad bit repetitive, between fever dreams and her real life either at uni or with her umma and sister. There could have been potential for a few more changes of scenery or events. But it was so good. I really enjoyed this and loved how fast faced it was. Such a weird creepy plot. And unlikeable characters for sure. I'm glad I have finally been able to read it!!
