Birbiglia powerfully personifies some of the harshest realities of reluctant/new Dad id, and Stein's poetry grounds the book with whimsy and developing maternal strength. Without both of those parts together, this book might actually be insufferable, but together, it's flawed and fascinating.

I've seen all of Mike Birbiglia's comedy specials and this book was a hilarious and thoughtful follow up - esp since he narrated the audiobook himself!

This was an audio book that my partner and I listened to together. It was quite funny at times and I enjoyed the voice of the author. He covered serious topics with humor and it was enjoyable to hear him speak frankly about becoming a parent for the first time. We mostly fast forwarded through his wife’s readings though. While we hate to admit it, we just couldn’t listen to her voice.
Overall, this one was entertaining but not one that I would be set on recommending to friends.
