i’ve never read anything like this, honestly.

how can someone have the talent for writing that? how did she possibly put into words the feelings that you never even thought you were capable of feeling?

it’s like she reached so deep into her mind and heart, latched onto all these confusing and fierce emotions, and then put them onto paper, portraying them exactly as they are, for us to understand, to see.

it’s not just a love story where two people meet and fall in love. it’s everything in between, the good, the bad, the ugly, the uglier, the mania, obsession, intimacy, fear, rage. and you might see glimpses of yourselves in moments and conversations. i found myself connecting to both main characters.

aldo and regan are such complex characters. they feel immensely, which can be both a virtue and vice simultaneously. their love isn’t perfect, not even close, but it runs so deep, you cannot deny its force.

i literally want this book to be engraved into my brain because reading it is simply not enough. it was SO well written. i loved every bit of it.

My expectations were a bit too high, which is why they were probably not met. It was alright, but not perfect to me. Sometimes (towards the end) it was pretty exhausting to read through the pages.

This was a bit disappointing. It started of kind of promising in the 'pretentious unlikable people' but with a fun twist and some original 4th wall breaking in the first few chapters. After that the tone kind of shifted and it became exceptionally annoying. The fun tidbits at the beginning did not come back to the very end.

There were some passages where I wasn't actively annoyed at the book and the acknowledgemets of the author helped.. a bit.

But no, I was hoping for more and which it just didn't give

It’s a good book and is beautifully written but oh my days the author wants to flex her writing. At times, the shifting between fictional format is fascinating and immersing, at other times, it is so overwhelmingly full of itself. Aldo and Reagan are interesting characters but are also not. It’s contradictory but the truth in how I experienced them, I sometimes think that the characters are not actually interesting, but that the prose is so fanciful that I find them interesting.

Also, while I found the writing good, it was definitely very pretentious. The narrators at the start were cool but dissolved into nothing and ultimately meant nothing. The stage directions at the start were also cool but again, became nothing. The stream of consciousness, sometimes pronoun-only, sometimes future tense, sometimes dialogue style of writing was probably only enjoyable through audio and would have been frustrating and convoluted to read by text.

I’ve seen a few people complain about the maths of the book, but I don’t agree that the maths or technicality of it was a negative. I think Aldo being a math genius was believable. What bothered me though was the almost inhumane way every character refused to talk simplistically about anything, everything had to be celestially important, defining worlds and overcoming space times and it became tiring quickly. Like, is this a sci-fi book because if so we need to stop rehashing the same concept and go somewhere?

The first half few parts of the book (I would say the last part I enjoyed was Keys) was entertaining though. Blake can really make the forbidden nature of the Aldo and Reagans relationship electrifying, convincing us the reader as they realise their world-changing importance to each other so that’s why the book is 3stars and not2

I listened the the audiobook and it was a great experience. But ik for a fact that if I had read the book physically I probably would have dropped it very early on.
