The best kid-related advice I’ve read to date. I especially appreciated that the examples are real examples and not completely fabricated anecdotes where everything works perfectly.
I also love they included chapters for kids on the spectrum and that each chapter ends with a bulleted summary.
Wish I read this sooner!

This was a very helpful book, providing loads of practical advice (which I find to be the most challenging part of parenting books).
The practical advice felt far easier to follow than the practical advice provided by someone like Janet Lansbury, for example. I think the reason for this has something to do with the format of the book of sharing the conflicts, the feedback and feelings of the caregivers/parents when experiencing these conflicts with their children, the proposed solution, the pushback from the parents and then the application of the methodology in several ways.
I didn't feel like I needed to walk away from this book with a set of scripts as I've felt I often need from other parenting advice, I felt that it was explained and demonstrated in a way that I was armed with the tools needed to help my child feel safe expressing her emotions and collaborating with her on finding solutions to many of life's problems.
In sum, I'd call this an extremely practical guide to gentle parenting.

I currently have an almost two year old who is very opinionated. I call her my little boss. I knew that even before she turned two I need some help. A lot of these tools will be useful when her vocabulary increases but there are some great tools that I’ve started to implement already. The book gives you different tools and then gives real life examples of them being used. The stories are relatable and made me laugh and cry. Parenting is NOT for the faint of heart.
I love this approach because it gives kids the tools that they can use to navigate their big feelings and problem solve to find solutions to living with other people. I avoid conflict but this book even helped me as an adult to see that acknowledging feelings (even negative ones) can help to come to mutual understanding (or tolerance) and work towards compromise that both people are happy with. I feel like this book gives parents and little people the skills they need to be successful in life.

his book had realistic ways and examples to help communicate with your little ones. It talked about feeling validation being the number one thing but then gave real life examples of common issues that you may struggle with as a parent: sibling rivalry, sleep problems, picky eating, tantrums, etc. and gave you purposeful and meaningful skills to try and make your communication improved with your young child. I thought it gave so many good examples and scenarios while not being preachy either. I particularly liked the parent rage section and the fact that they did focus a bit on taking care of you as well as your child. If you are not the best version of yourself, how can you except your child to be? Very well done and useful in many ways.

This was excellent! I have read several parenting books, and this has been my favorite. The authors’ recommendations make so much sense, but absolutely do not come naturally to most people. I wish I would have read this book sooner.
