Another great book by T. Kingfisher. World building is immaculate, characters are awesome, looking forward to reading the next book in this pair. Truly one of my favorite worlds and the lore is amazing and I look forward to reading more.

Some weird scenes in the book made me pause for a while, but that’s more on me than on the actual story. Great storytelling, great writing, would’ve said this was fast-paced read but then I got to a scene that made me pause for almost a whole month.

It usually takes me about 30-50 pages to really get into a book but this one pulled me in within a few pages. This is was fun fantasy adventure story that feels like follow along with a game of DnD. It's lighthearted and fast-paced, lots of witty banter, tropey character archetypes (Brooding paladin, mischievous assassin, high-strung scholar, etc.). The author gets right into the story, so you don't have to spend time on exposition and world building before getting into the plot. Read this in one sitting and had a great afternoon.
