Good prémices .. but
  • the dynamics between the characters and characters themselves feel cheap.
  • Undertone message introduced without subtility
  • And mostly the book feels like A Bowl of Mac and Cheese and cie. By the way it goes, I bet the book will totally forget the plot and the story to focus on lenghty internal monologue like every other romantasy.

Spice was exceptional. I liked the twist. Story lagged at some points.

Kat has no money to keep up her estate and her deadbeat husband is nowhere to be found.  She turns to a life of crime but then is summoned to court to be a spy.  Her target is a fae named Bastian. With the help of Ella, another spy, she learns how to seduce him.  Bastian is also up to something as his friend, Asher, is in the race to marry the queen.

This is definitely a different type of romantascy.  While it doesn’t touch on other series, it was still a good read.  The end had some twists I didn’t expect and I’m excited to read the next book in the series to see where it goes!

Oh this BOOK! Talk about sweet sweet torture with a peek at the heavenly bliss to come! Prepare yourselves - this book is a slow burn tease but in the best way possible. The tension and chemistry in this enemies to lovers... just... *spontaneously combusts*.

When Clare told me that her next series involved a character that we had already seen in the BBS series, I was hoping it would be Kat but goodness me, my heart hurt to know she had gone through such struggles. We are not fans of crappy hubbys... No, we are not! At the same time, it made her develop into an interesting, strong, morally grey FMC and it led her to Bastian so.... WORTH IT!?!?!!!! I think so. *smirks*

First things first - forget horses people! They are a thing of the past. In this book, they ride sabre cats and I vote to make this the new requirement as the mode of transportation in romantasy books. Not only do I want one but watch as I 100% make this my new personality. What? Oh me? Yeah I ride a sabre cat... *hair flick* LOL.

Second, absolutely love how the world of Albion just opened up. Don't get me wrong - we saw a nice bit of it in BBS but HELLLOOOOO more places to explore!

Third -say hello to the new Shadow Daddy on the block... But hands off! He's mean, he's dark, he's temptation incarnate and naughty and he's mine. *evil smirk* I love how he opened up to Kat and how they allowed each other to be vulnerable with each other. That ending totally had me screaming but my goodness am I ever excited for book 2!!!! *SQUEALS*

There's so many fun moments in this book, please just read it!
