There were aspects of this book I really enjoyed, but the majority of it felt like a chore to read. I like the overall message of the book, but it felt overly-preachy in some parts.

Repetitive and platitudinous.
A friend of mine went to one of his speeches and they had extra packets. She got me one and it had about 4-5 of his books. I have read/skimmed a few of them. They are all pretty much the same. They are good reminders of things most would agree bring happiness. This book had 9. The most meaningful to me were celebrate progress, simplify your life, be disciplined, seek the good in others and everything, and don’t think too far in the future: just do the next right thing.
If you had read any other of his books there really is no need to read this one.

I read this book as part of a Lenten study. It was combined with daily emails containing videos by the author, the pages to read that day that tied in with the videos, and action and pray steps to do that day. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. There were days I felt truly spoken to through the book. There are passages, ideas and lessons that I am putting to use in my life. And for all that, this book and this study have been worth it. That said, Mr. Kelly can ramble a bit, repeat himself and sometimes write in a way that feels like he’s just trying to fill more pages. I am interested in reading another of his books though, and possibly going to one of his talks when he’s in my area.

Well, started as okay with a few tidbits of things that make you think. But by chapter five, this started to turn more into a preachers sermon. Explaining how his beliefs are the proper belief and claiming it to be fact without anything to back it up. So then I looked up his other books, and sure enough he's strong Theist. His latest book Rediscover Jesus. Seems many of these motivational speakers are very closely just salesmen selling there Snake Oil. Okay, onward with more factual books now.
I really enjoyed reading this. MK fills with with little nuggets that had me constantly nodding or caught me reflecting on something larger. He isn't saying anything revolutionary, but he has a way of writing that just brings you back to the fundamentals and I love that.
A self help book on becoming the best person you can be. Lots of thought provoking ideas. Not a fast book but one that needs to be read slowly so the ideas sink in.
