When life feels like a puzzle, sometimes it’s the small pieces that make up the bigger picture

This isn’t the first book i have read from Paige Toon and i can safely say that this is my favourite by a mile.

This isn’t just a romance or romcom, it is a story about love and adventure and growing and finding your place in the world.

This book will make you laugh and cry in equal measures 🙂

The book is about Bridget, a successful travel journalist with ambitions to turn her quirky relationship blog into a novel which takes her on a journey tracking down all her exe’s to find out why her relationships have resulted in failure and why she wants the pieces of her heart back. (I’m not sure I would want to come face to face with some of my ex’s!!)

But whilst facing rejection from publishing companies for her own book she is approached to ghost write a sequel to a novel that the previous author passed away before writing.

Seizing this opportunity Bridget moves to Padstow for the summer. And the layers of emotion begin …

There are so many different layers to this book that blend seamlessly that add depth to the characters, the places and the emotions running through out the book.

This book is just perfect to curl up under the duvet with a nice cup of tea and get lost in the quirky world of Bridget.

Read as part of my 24 hour readathon for Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. Longer review will be over on my blog. I love Paige Toon’s writing, I have adored every book of hers that I’ve read so far and this one was no different. Loved it!

I really enjoyed the book I read most of it in one day but the only thing that stops me from giving it 5/5 is towards the end it started to feel a big rushed

3.5 rounded up. A sweet second chance romance. Jill Mansell wibes. No spice really. Quite predictable as expected from the genre.

To be honest, when I read the first few chapters I wasn't certain I would enjoy this book. I thought I had it pegged from the get go, ad to be fair I did kind of see the ending coming. That being said I loved the slow burn romance, I loved the blossoming friendship between Bridget and Charlie. I rooted for them with all my heart. It also wasn't afraid to touch on (sometimes) the taboo subject of the grieving widow, but it was done realistically and with fore thought. The thing about grief is that it displays in varying ways in different people
The end family dynamic hits home for me, as my mum remarried a year after being widowed. I was 4 years old and I had 2 other siblings. My step dad already had a son, so we became a big blended family and it made me realise that there is no cookie cutter outcome for a widow to follow.
If you love, you love.
After this story I am officially a fan of Paige Toon.

I always know what I'm going to get with a Paige Toon book - a lovely warm feeling, like wrapping yourself in a cosy blanket - and this one didn't disappoint. I loved it, which is why it took me less than a day to read. I was looking for a book that wouldn't take much concentration and thought and this fulfilled that. You can just lose yourself in the gorgeous settings (I really want to book holidays to both Cornwall and Thailand now) and the beautiful people. It's pretty light and fluffy but if that's what you're looking for then I heartily recommend it.
