I finished this book some time back and finally I have time to write something about it. Now it is no secret how much I adore Clarkson. He has the best metaphors that side of the Atlantic and is quirky, corny and delightfully inappropriate.
Of all the [b:The World According to Clarkson|300118|The World According to Clarkson (World According to Clarkson, #1)|Jeremy Clarkson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1442063745s/300118.jpg|291191] series, I love this one best. It starts from 2013 all the way to 2015. Shortly before he got fired from the Beebs. Clarkson is funnier than ever and has some pretty cringe worthy moments. We also get an explanation about how he got started at the Rotherham Advertiser. It goes a long way into explaining why sometimes Jeremy carries the opinion of the village idiot who attended a few classes in school and then went for a lengthy meeting at a local pub where townsdwellers could discuss what was wrong with the world (and what was even wronger with the people trying to fix it) over a coupla beers.
You still gotta love him though. Even if he thinks Jesus would have been better off in New Zealand. Because it's less horrible than Bethlehem. Smh, but I have a smile on my face that just won't quit. Who should I consult about that?

I like Jeremy Clarkson. He comes from a different world and sometimes holds quite different opinions, but he's entertaining and has made me laugh out loud probably more than any comedian has.

The book has its moments. There were a couple of pages that made me laugh a little louder than you should when you're taking the kids to bed.

But that was it. Just a couple of pages here and there. The vast majority of the collection was decent, and a sizeable minority was plainly dull.

Clarkson is great, but this is like watching a match of the day where they show two goals and all of the throw-ins.

Sometimes he's nothing but a big ol' softie, Clarkson.

There is something almost sad about reading some of this. Hearing Clarkson refer to the BBC he's "known and loved for nigh on a quarter of a century" leaves a sense of melancholy in light of last years's events. Although reading his introduction that deals with that very issue is a tonic of optimism.
All that aside, this presents the usual mix of intelligent common sense and outrageous hyperbole. It gave me a lot to smile about.
