Meh...I think I have read so many really great/good books lately that this one felt very paint by numbers obsessed, psycho stalker basic bitch story. Its a duet and I am not even a little bit interested in reading the second part. I was not a fan of the writing, so many plot holes and clunky scenes. I was not really invested in either character. It wasn't the worst in this genre but I have just read much better so its a no from me.
Ugh amazing stalker romance. Im obsessed. Genuinely this book was so good!

This book was OVER THE TOP, at least as far as the hero's obsession/stalking was concerned. That’s fine, sometimes I just want to read some OTT craziness, but some parts of the story got in the way of me enjoying it. Like the hero’s focus on her virginity. It felt kinda gross to me how hung up on that his character was. It really made me wonder if he would have valued her as much if it had turned out he wasn’t the first man to “claim” her in that way. I also didn’t feel like his character was well fleshed out, rather his main defining characteristic was his absolute obsession with Dove.
Also, why could he not just tell her who he was??? It would have saved a whole lot of trouble. We had his POV, so even if he wasn’t telling her for some reason, why not share that with the reader? Instead, he gets all pissy about how she’s acting toward him after all he’s done for her, when DUDE, she doesn’t know what you’ve done besides kill some people she never asked you to, and you say you’re keeping her safe but she doesn’t know from what. I feel like the author did that to add tension but without good reasoning behind it, I only found it frustrating. Add in some typos/grammar issues like “chased” instead of “chaste” and things of that sort, and this book made me roll my eyes. I am continuing on to book two because despite all this, I still want to see where things end up. And because I’m a masochist, I guess.

Zane took his obsession and stalking to a whole new level. The you need help and fast kind of level. Yeah, not a fan of that level of psychotic.
The storyline overall is nothing new. It's one of those captor-turns-lover novels. It's decent. I enjoyed the dark backstory and those steamy scenes. But there wasn't anything to the story that makes it stand out. It lacks that oomph.
Overall, good enough to read but not memorable.

I really wanted to like this book, but I struggled so much with the story. I found parts to be repetitive and found myself skimming over them. Although I figured out the connection, you really don't know anything until the end of the book, which does end on a cliffhanger. I struggled with her actions as well.
