A cute story for Beau and  Ellie. Beau McBride is ready for a wife and bets his little meddling sister. June-bug to who will find the better wife. June tries to hedge her bets so she brings 6 more ladies to town. Beau thinks he found the one - Diana, who really is just the face bc her best friend Ellie has been writing their correspondence! It's a funny journey where you can tell the best chemistry is only between Ellie and Beau. A little miscommunication but it leads to a cute reunion. Who knows what's in store for the 4th McBride brother when the first 3 send June-bug to lady boarding school 😄

This one was a slow start/grower for me, but I was hooked by the midpoint. Typical fun chaos with Junebug and her hijinks, another lovable brother, and seven(!!) wives all staying at the inn in Bitterroot. Skews toward plot focus, with a substantial minority self-revelation/reflection and personal growth. A tiny bit of epistolary. Lots of internal conflict for both. A touch of dual Cyrano (Junebug writes some letters unknown to (impersonating) Beau, but FMC Ellie also writes some letters on behalf of her best friend Diana.
Another cute installment. Set up for the next MMC and a new forced adventure by way of boarding school for Junebug.

- historical romance
- small-town, Western romance (set in 19th-century Montana)
- forbidden romance: best friend's betrothed 👀
- third person POV
- narration by Eve Kaminsky

This series is just so fun to listen to. Eve does a great job giving each main character a distinct voice, making the story flow effortlessly and keeping you fully immersed.

Now let’s talk about the plot. In this book, Beau is looking for love and foolishly makes a bet with his chaotically lovable sister, Junebug, about who can find the perfect mail-order bride. Naturally, Junebug takes it to the next level and invites not one but six women to town to compete for her brother's heart. All this alongside the one bride Beau actually chose for himself.

Things get even more complicated when Beau forms an unlikely friendship with his chosen bride’s best friend... who also happens to be one of Junebug’s surprise candidates. The pair grow closer as Beau leans on her for advice on how to woo her friend, but somewhere along the way, he falls for her instead.

He’s adorably awkward, and she gives it to him straight. Their connection builds in the little moments – the banter, the lingering touches, the tension-filled kisses – and it’s such a joy to watch it all unfold.

Junebug continues to steal every scene she’s in, and I love the historical Western Montana setting. Insert me imagining dusty wild west streets with saloons and horses as I listen 😂.

Thank you to Atria Books Australia for the physical copy. I did a hybrid read and listened to the audiobook via Spotify.

This book was so damn delightful and a hoot! I was seriously cracking up at parts! I couldn’t put this book down at all. It was very addictive. And the narrator incredible!!

Beau got himself into a pickle by making a bet with Junebug because if you’ve read the previous books you know how wily she is 🤣 and it made for a HIGHLY entertaining story! Which made for an already amazing book, but then add in Beau and Ellie’s chemistry and their banter and all the anticipation of them! It was just so so good!

It all flowed so well and then I loved how it all ended up! But that epilogue haha oh boy I can’t wait to see what happens next with this family!
