I love Against Me! and I have been meaning to read LJG’s book. Laura didn’t hold back and I couldn’t imagine a more in-depth look at one person’s journey to transition. Was it a tough read? Yes. Did I want to cry at times? Absolutely.

Great book, but it can sort of border on sounding just like a series of disconnected journal entries sometimes. Which it was, so that makes sense. But still, Dan and Laura helped weave it all together really well and if you're a big fan of Against Me, or you're interested in hearing more about Laura's gender journey, you'll get something out of this.

I almost dnf’d and now I’m so glad I finished! I’m so emotional right now and have a lot of complex thoughts about this book so if I write a full thought out review it’s going to take me a while.
What I can say right now is that I respect how open and honest she was even when it was less than flattering and sometimes uncomfortable. And as someone who’s transitioned myself I can say I have immense respect for someone who had the guts to transition:
A) while living in god damned florida
B) already being a public figure
C) Already being married and already having a kid.
