I give this story a rating of 3.5 bc for me, it moved too slow IMO. All of the characters were fantastic & the storyline had a good premise, however I think it took too long to get to the climax. The character growth was well done for MMC Leif yet Layla left me wanting as there was no character growth for her, again IMO. Think it might be awhile before I try another book by this author & this book has not turned me off in regards to the author’s writing.

Just like the first one in the series, I really enjoyed this one. I loved Leif and Layla and their relationship.

Leif is a self established billionaire and heir who left his families business in order to branch out and make a name for himself. He is a single father to 8 year old Isla, whose mother left her when she was less than a week old and has never been heard from since.

Layla is a broke 27 year old who is taking care of her genius 17 year old sister. They live in a falling down, awful apartment building, which Layla pays for by working 3 jobs at a time.

Layla and Leif met 6 years prior when Layla was working at The Job - you know, the one that is supposed to change your life. Layla was getting groped by a drunk jackass when Leif stepped in and stood up for her. Though, within minutes he left and she was left forgotten once again.

Then they "meet" again a few months ago at a birthday party for the children that she is nannying. Leif doesn't remember Layla, but Layla has not forgotten the established, sexy Leif.

Now we are in the present and Leif needs a temporary nanny for Layla and Leif hires Leif. They try and fight their temptation the entire week until things finally come to a head. Leif falls quick and hard for Layla and Layla finally has someone who can take care of her.

It all comes crumbling down when Layla overhears the worst conversation that Leif is having with his father. The worst possible news that she could hear. All of this while the same day, she finds out that she is pregnant with his child. Will they be able to overcome such a large issue in their new relationship?

Two cons from this book (and they aren't even that serious) - one, for once I felt like this book was too short. I wanted to hear so much more about the couple and I felt like sometimes weeks passed by between chapters. Two, the blurb about the book specifically talked about the pregnancy. I felt like the book was barely about the pregnancy. I mean she doesn't even find out that she is pregnant until over 75% of the way through the book. I just thought that the pregnancy would be more of a topic for the overall book.

The FMC is too stupid to live. The 'twist' is painfully telegraphed from a mile away. Everything is surface level. This is a real disappointment after the first one in the series.

I really enjoyed this book, it is definitely my kind of romance book with the pregnancy trope mixed in.  I wasn't sure at first since the first chapter or two didn't immediately draw me in but as I kept reading it I really got into this story.  I have to say that I really liked Layla's character in the book and honestly reading a lot of contemporary romance sometimes there are moments where I think the actions of the leading characters are a bit ridiculous.  But for Layla, I felt that her actions and responses to her situation were completely understandable.  I enjoyed her point of view more than Leif (sometimes Leif's pov got a bit repetitive) and I really felt for her character and I think that Layla just deserves the world.  She is such a hardworking character that is fiercely protective of her family that sometimes I felt like Leif didn't deserve her.  I mean at the end I'm glad they resolved their issues but I was surprised that I was more satisfied with Layla getting a happy ending that she deserved more than I cared about Leif and Layla getting together.  Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they worked things out and I enjoyed their journey, I'm just really happy that Layla gets a life that she deserves at the end as well because this girl worked so hard.
