I know these stories are good because I find myself flying through pages without even focusing on the page numbers!!! Until the last story, which was 100 pages, but still a fascinating and captivating story. I loved the characters and you really dive into their shortly captured worlds quickly. A lot of excellent variety between stories, too.

Collection of short stories focused on women, race, loss, and grief. Some of the stories I might have missed the point, others were amazing. The novella at the end was probably my favorite.

Some of these stories are 5 stars for me, while others were lower. The last two in the book were by far my favorites - I was invested, cared about the characters, and thought they made really interesting points.

An absolute banger collection of short stories about race and centering black women in almost-current day America (one protagonist is a white woman, but I believe the rest are black). Absolutely fantastic. One of my favorite reads this year so far, no question. Powerful writing.

Short stories are rarely my favorite medium, but these stories do a great job of sidestepping some of my issues with the medium. Danielle Evans puts on a master class here.
