What a beautiful book! I loved the simple, rhyming phrases that tell the story of a lonely scarecrow who decides to help a baby crow and the friendship that blossoms. The illustrations are stunning and match the text so well. The Fan brothers are quickly becoming some of my favorite illustrators.

This book is so, so lovely. The Fan brothers illustrations pair beautifully with the sweet and gentle story of a young crow and a scarecrow who become friends. It reminds me of [b:The Robot and the Bluebird|4271492|The Robot and the Bluebird|David Lucas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388730262l/4271492._SX50_.jpg|4319014].

I just kept thinking, that scarecrow is not doing his job very well; the farmer is going to be p'd.

The cover just made me want to check it out even though I didn't think it was what I was looking for exactly (it wasn't). But, man, I'd buy it anyway.  The Scarecrow is a warm little book about needing a friend and having someone to love.

The pictures aren't super colorful or overly detailed, but the artwork is still quite beautiful in the muted colors.  They're soothing.  Reminds me of some of the books from my childhood that I wouldn't put as my favorites because they weren't overly colorful, but later in life I would come to realize, what my dad already knew, they're really good books.  This is like that.  It's a really good book.  If described as a feeling it's like a warm hug after being away from home for too long. 🧡

Really loved this, about friendship and loneliness and life... and it rhymes... and its heart warming and I cried... all the feelings in a cute picture book. The illustrations are amazing just like the story. And the crow is so cute.
