When I got this book I planned to read one of the stories every morning, but it turns out reading something so intense and sad as this isn't the most uplifting way to start the day. Although, it looks like this is by the same author as Grave of the Fireflies, so I really should've seen this coming. It's always good to read about a period in history you're familiar with from a different perspective, and as someone from the UK I really appreciated this. If you're going to read this I'd recommend dipping in and out and taking your time with this book, as I think this would make it more impactful than if you read it all at once.
