3.75 This is probably the best Cassandra Clare book I’ve read so far. If you’re here for plot, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re here for character development, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re here for angsty romance and shady characters…ooh baby, you came to the right place. It was also fun to read the dynamics of the friendships between the Merry Thieves. There are odes to previous books and characters but honestly, it’s not a requirement to read them before reading this.
For the amount of plot that does exist, it seems interesting enough to keep on reading. But I’d be lying if I said I would continue the trilogy for the plot and not the romances.

This book was. SO. GOOD. Holy crap, I'm not okay. We've got a friend group. We've got Edwardian England. We've got parabatais. We've got angsty romance. We've got demons. I haven't had a book consume like this one did in a while... Can't wait for Chain of Iron!!

Note: are we going to a love triangle AGAIN, CC?? Only complaint is that the other side of the love triangle suddenly appeared halfway through the book out of nowhere (and I can't help but ship them with someone else!!)...

Well!

Finished the first book of the The Last Hours and um it was a comfortable (?) read. The reading experience was a confusing mixture of slight delight and not-so-thrilling feels. The signature adventure ambiance in the Shadowhunter world was still amazing especially among the powerful and influential Shadowhunter families which many have loved, but then the scarily same themes from the previous series like the romantic tropes, family conflicts, and others have become...distant and too 'cultured' (?).

I am currently treading the second book though but I fear that I might end up spending time with other pages soon. We'll see.

Overall, I managed to brave this least popular stance from this book: James Herondale is not exactly that appealing. HOPEFULLY, the second book will sweep me from that thought. ALSO, I think it is only rightful for anyone to wish a drink or two with Matthew Fairchild. Or with The Anna Lightwood.

The way I love Matthew Fairchild is UNBELIEVABLE!!
Best part of book was him and Matthew and Cordelia.
Even though there is breadcrumbs it's gold, Matthew watching her perform and slowly falling in love with her outsold every scene she has with James.
Matthewcordelia serve cheating scandal.

Now rant: Cordelia, her entire character arch was based on loving/ acting like fan girl over James.
In the end she is all like he doesn't love me at least be near him...girl what hell!!
I want strong girl lead not this hopefully she grows backbone and be with Matthew.

Herongraystairs scene ilysm.

James I like fine and reading him and Cordelia scenes was like watching paint dry.

Lucie and Jesse are so cute, I really like Anna a lot and Merry Thieves, but Allister can drop dead. One bland sorry doesn't make for all stuff Matthew gone through because of him. I will never like him period.

Overall I can't for next book.
