The whole thing read like a mystery/fairytale. I did find that I liked Eliza’s story best and the present day action wasn’t as intriguing.

It’s good and held my attention but it is very choppy jumping from time period to time period. Had to draw myself a chart to keep up with characters. But I couldn’t stop b/c I did want to know what happened!

This is really 4.5 stars for me - I loved it, two teeny issues with minor plot points notwithstanding.
*slight spoilers ahead *
1. The whole Creepy Linus bit should have been either better developed or dropped.
2. There were hints that Nell's adoptive mother Lil was related to Mary's family (through Mary's brother who emigrated to Australia) but that was never realized. That would have been a fun little connection.
