This is just the starting point for this series so I chose not to rate it yet.

Love Notes: A Prequel (Rivals #0.5) by Piper Lawson – Her famous rocker father gives one of her friends the chance to have a music mentor, but will their friendship survive junior year of high school? Considering the series is called Rivals, don’t put money on it lol! These two are going to have an uphill battle! Happy Reading!

I reread this because I'm planning to read the entire series. I just finished the Wicked series and I'm looking forward to this rival series. The prequel is a great intro, it had the popular kids, the unpopular ones, the new blood, and the drama that comes with it. I hated the fact that Tyler ghosted Annie for eight months; who does that? Carly is very entitled and spoiled, a typical mean girl. Pen's a supportive bff, and I love her.✨

I’m excited to start Annie & Tyler’s story. This prequel doesn’t delve much into their history, so I’m glad I’ve already read the Wicked series. I’m also curious to know what happened with each of them since then. There wasn’t anything essential in this story, I don’t think, but it set up and teased the series. It reminded me of the fictional world (and entertaining writing) I fell in love with during Wicked and am looking forward to continuing with Rivals.
