I thought it was interesting to read a story from the perspective of a madam, which is unusual for me. It really humanized sex workers and opened a little window into the circumstances that might make this work the best choice for certain people.

Unique premise, and although this wasn't my favourite writing style, it has compelled me to read another of her books. It's a nice mental break during school exams :)

OOOH, that was quick and entertaining. I was getting nervous that it wouldn't wrap up in the last 100 pages. I really loved the main character of the book.

It is disconcerting to me to find myself rooting for the prostitute/pimp character, but I truly wanted a good ending for Heloise. I liked this book. The ending was a bit of a let down, I don't like when the reader finds out the whole plot in a confessionary session at gun point, but over all a good book.

I really enjoyed this audio. It was more thought provoking than expected and had a good story that kept me wanting to know what was going to happen.

I’ve like Laura Lipman’s other books but this one wasn’t my favorite.

The latest stand alone by Laura Lippman was suspenseful and an excellent read. It centers on the suburban madam Heloise, who was introduced in two previously published short stories. The story moves between the past and the present, so the reader finds out how Heloise ended up in the position she is in and what happens when her past catches up with her. The writing is outstanding and will keep you wanting to read just one more chapter to find out what happens next.

I don't remember why I chose this book. In fact, I don't think I knew anything about it when I began reading it. It didn't take long to draw me in and I did like the main character, despite her glossiness. The story is about a woman who is a suburban madame. She has created a life of lies and wants to get out for the sake of her son. Unfortunately, there is a dangerous and powerful man in her past who ties her to the business. Soon, women in her line of business are found mysteriously murdered and she believes she is next.

This story kept me entertained and was a quick read.
