Was really liking it a lot until the main character did something that made me so mad, I had to put the book down for a few minutes.

She let her mother get herself home from the hospital. That whole relationship with her mother just felt a little untrue.

I was able to finish reading but really was upsetting to the point it changed my perspective of the main character. Not terrible, I mean the main character is supposed to be flaws, I think?
there is also a pretty large part of the book where she wrestles between wanting to be the main author but also not wanting to do what it takes to be a main author. I felt this part a little underdeveloped, because it didn't make sense that she wanted to be famous since she absolutely did not want attention.

anyway, I thought the overall plot and story was great, I just wish the main character wasn't so awful.

The Devil Wears Prada meets the culinary world and B-list celebrity culture. Started strong but a bit uneven as it progressed, though it was still an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars

Was it the best book I’ve read? No but it also isn’t the worst. It’s a nice palette cleanser book-lighthearted (cheesy at times) and easy to get through. Sure the characters are all maddening at some point, but I enjoyed it and the dedication to the food explanations made it special.
