It's always a pleasure to visit the staff of Edmonston Gardens. Same structure, same characters, same level of enjoyment!

This review is based on the audio book. I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as I've enjoyed others in the series - the Inspector in particular just seemed to be acting out of character for no particularly good reason. Though the mystery itself was enjoyable, and of course Mrs. Jeffries and the rest are always worth visiting.

Emboldened by Mrs Jeffries compliments, Detective Witherspoon has decided to listen to his “inner voice” and not use Mrs Jeffries as a sounding board for this case. Anyone familiar with this series is probably thinking ‘oh dear’ at the prospect of Witherspoon handling this solo. But maybe, just maybe we haven’t given the detective the credit he deserves... maybe.
The case is the murder of a bar owner, he was not well liked and so there are numerous suspects. Poor Mrs Jeffries and co are heading in blind trying to find out as much as possible to assist the detective. They fear the detective won’t be able to cope without them and when he is outed as a bumbling nitwit their murder solving days will be over.
But can the detective cope on his own? Can the gang cope without being needed? Is the murderer going to walk free?
I really enjoyed this instalment as it was a change in pace and style to normal. I thoroughly enjoy this series and am eager to continue it.

Another wonderful, cozy Victorian mystery.

It was nice to see the inspector figure things out for himself for once, but the book wasn't my favorite: I disliked the changed dynamics and the staff's assumptions; I also didn't like the mystery and how it was "solved" by the inspector.

Mrs Jeffries Stands Corrected takes a slight departure from the previous eight books.  A familiar part of the other books is the  routine conversations  inspector Witherspoon and Mrs Jeffries have discussing the current murder investigation.  This time he does not!  This twist lends itself to fresh drama. An enjoyable cozy mystery!
