Reading this book was torture! Its only redeeming quality is that it was so short. I'm likely in the minority, but I'm totally new to Jane Austen. I must confess that if this novella is a representation of her longers novels, then I shall abstain from reading any of her others.

Far too many characters for the number of pages. Writing is too formal, though I suspect this is representative of all writing of that era.

I did not know this was actually an epistolary roller-coaster, it 100% reads like having personal knowledge of a grifter, seeing them succeed on the internet with their lies, and being unable to prevent it. I was stressed, even.

This was quite funny, told only in a series of letters that highlights the unreliable narrator trope.
