was so excited about this and it let me down in the worst way. the plot was set up to be so excellent and the author just did nothing w it…??? the characters even were such a disappointment. what a shame.

It took me a little bit to get through this book. (I’m trying to read all of BOTM main selections).

I read the first 70 pages in Jan, then it had to go back to the library. This week I’ve been reading chunks of it, and the middle part interested me for a little bit. I did find the format of going back in time for the posts was a little clever, like her reading text histories.

I loved a lot of the NYC references as some of the spots I was literally there a couple week ago and could picture it (along the reservoir in CP).

I would read other books by this author, but this story got to be a little far fetched in places.

It kept me intrigued but I found myself many times, wondering what was going on! With that said, I did not see the end coming however… even the way the last chapter was written was head scratching. Ok read, but I wouldn’t say “You have to read this”!

I listened to this murder mystery, and found it to be enjoyable. If you like contemporary noir, you will be into it--every other paragraph has an over the top metaphor and lots of pop culture references. The actual mystery was not too tricky, but it was still fun.

despite the page-turning family drama, this book ultimately disappointed me. it's the kind of mystery book that will make you go, "wait that's it????" once you've reached the last page. this took me on a long-winded investigation journey, but the payoff was not worth it. it felt like the killer was written on a whim without a solid motive whatsoever.

good audiobook, but not a really stellar mystery.

Like a Sister is a run of the hill mystery novel that reads like an episode of SVU.
