I love the premise of this book. It sounds sooo interesting. Unfortunately I feel like this book is not even about what it says it is. I mean, it kind of is. But there was a big build up to the library, but like two lives in she suddenly becomes super philosophical about it. Which is fine, I feel this experience would bring someone to be that way. But like.. idk. It was just a sloppy way to switch from seeing the lives to watching her stream of conscious thought change. There is a part in the book that lists lives she had like a grocery list. But then waxes poetic about the true meaning of life (gratitude? I feel like i would sum it up to).
I wanted a book about different lives a person could live with small tweaks. To see her love and live or whatever. That was there, her being a glaciologist and a mom were pretty fleshed out lives. But other than that it seems it mostly was just fluff in between her having a new appreciation of life.
Also, bow and ribbon perfect ending. Brother hasnt talked to you in years because he was in a bad spot and embarrassed? Oh but jk he goes to the gym every day and is super healthy now, but still never picked up the phone.
I love tearing books apart lately. I like that as i read more i learn what i like more. And i wish that i liked this book more. What a cool concept. If the ending monologue about the meaning of life had been framed as what Nora had learned, I could have enjoyed it more. But framing it as her preaching it was so bizarre. Like she had all the answers- duh! But like, clearly you didnt at the beginning homegirl.
Enjoyed the journey, sad it wasn't more about the lives. I did like her polar bear life and how she had challenging new feelings with molly that she wasnt a know it all about.
"You dont have to understand life, you just have to live it" sounds like something id say to my 10yo when they say they dont understand why they have to go to bed.

It’s not what you look at, it’s what you see. This book was so good, the chapters are short, the chapter titles are darling, and loved all the thoughts I was having while reading. I didn’t love having to read this quickly because of people waiting in line for it! Happens to me a lot!
