lol another Instagram reels read. i don’t like being a hater but like this book was pretty rough. it was cute to an extent but the writing was really poor and there were tons of errors. it also just felt so unrealistic like why was her friend trying to push them together immediately after he was in town again? Like she was there when he left her in the first place?? Idk seems like a bad friend to me!
Kidding because honestly other than that, the friends in this book were probably some of the best because for some reason in romance books the main characters never have friends!
The characters felt really flat and 2D and i really don’t feel like we know anything about them other than they had a kid together but he didn’t know. Like we never get any actual backstory or extra info, just felt very flat.
But at least the kid got his dad in the end!

ADORABLE

Okay, such a cute stinking book!

Second chance romance always has a soft spot in my heart and I loved that there wasn’t the ridiculous back and forth before they got together. They fell back into old ways and Alec was able to love his son.

I just finished the book and I have to say it was perfect!! I loved every second of it
and I cried from the last chapter till the end I loved lu and Alec god and there bond with jack melted my heart

dnf p152. What kinda five year old can't go to the bathroom by themselves?
Spoiler And all over a letter that could have easily not made it to him?? Those conversations should definitely be in person.

It had a lot of potential, and the author definitely has some talent, it just wasn't quite... ready. This seems more like a first draft than a final.

I really wanted to love this book, has some of my favourite trops

Hockey
Single mum
Second chance

Sadly it just doesn’t hit it all. The bare bones of the story is great but its sadly lacked the final execution.☹️☹️

The timeline of the book just doesn’t work, the hockey team are visiting the home towns of players on their team however they are Alec’s home town for about 3/4 weeks ??? How are they then touring all the players home towns ?

Laura gets a new job and only work ,2 shifts as she’s then out every weekend in dates with Alec. Normally I can overlook small errors but there were just so many that didn’t fit it drove me insane.

There was zero grovelling from either main character when he discovers he’s a father and she says she wrote him a letter like WHAT ok were both sorry and move on

I did like the way both parents handled the possibility of their son being gay however when it comes to them leaving nothing gets mentioned about jacks best friend/boyfriend even someone so young would be devastated leaving their best friend.

Jack the little boy in the book basically carries the story for the majority of the book
