I didn't like it as much as the first one.
cis authors stop using "male bodied" and "female bodied" challenge :| it doesn't mean what you think it means, lol
a lot of vomit in this book. it's never described very explicitly, but the amount is excessive lol
SEX. GOOD.
I don't really think the 10 year old had sufficient data or motivation to generate his hypothesis and act on it to that extent.
that plus the speed of alien <> human communication + amount of folks experiencing collective consciousness all in one place/noticing eachother at the same time wasn't very believable/as immersive as the previous book, I think.
I should rewatch Martine's NYPL interview about this book, but idk that she succeeded in creating an alien intelligence that was unfathomable/etc, if that's what she was going for.
