I am enjoying Elly Griffiths' Ruth Galloway series, so I thought I would give this book a go. As expected, I really enjoyed it! The murders were pretty gory, but 1950's Britain, and the fading world of the variety show is fun and fascinating. The characters are eccentric, appealing and interesting too. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

Quite predictable but fun all the same.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm not one for light hearted mysteries or historical fiction but this was extremely well done. I loved the characters and even laughed a few times.

good intro to an interesting pair. Kinda annoyed at villain reveal, but easy and entertaining read.

Will get the 2nd sooner than later.

Interesting concept for a book. Overall the mystery was interesting and I liked the different components, but there just wasn’t enough connection. I didn’t really like either of the main characters and wasn’t attached enough to the people who were killed. The plot twists were interesting though, I just wasn’t attached enough to care.

It was good, but hey no Ruth Galloway series! I do love that series. But this one was different, it takes place in 1950. The detective is a man, and I do like her female Povs, but nothing of that here. So yes, different.

Edgar is a detective who was part of a special unit during the war. And now that come back to haunt him.

Magic, people dying, trying to figure who and why. Seems to be a lot more books in the series too, and being a romantic I hope Edgar finds someone ;)

It was good, but Ruth wins heads down, and her Kaur series is better too. But I need to read everything I can find

I read this because I love her Dr. Ruth Galloway books. This wasn’t nearly as interesting or informative. Probably won’t continue with this series.
