I still like these books, but this one was less favorite. The time travelling paradox got old pretty fast, especially when the characters don't even try anymore, and just act very annoying. The ending was incredibly unsatisfying and frustrating. Many of my favorite characters just acted like small, petty children. I'm definitely still reading the next book, because I want to see how the series comes back from this.

5 Stars for Luke Daniels' performance. Negative 5 Stars for the terrible story. One Star for the One Likeable Character in this series now, Gary. So disappointing. Hard to follow, entirely uninteresting, couldn't wait for it to end. I loved the first few books of this series but it's so off the rails from what it was. I don't even like giving any review One Star because I feel like it's rude to the author who worked hard on their book. But I can't not say something here. Maybe by chance the author will come across this review and understand that I love his work generally, but this was awful. I wish Elder Myself came back to stop me from spending the Audible credit.

Still a fun series.

I knew it was worth sticking with this series. The past few books were rather lackluster, but this one takes the cake. Full of fun magic, intrigue, and keeps you thinking (and keeping track) of plot. Most enjoyable, and great narration on the audiobook as always.

I read many bad reviews about this book before buying it and it turns out to be a really good book. If you are looking for a serious story with complex characters (specially female characters) this is not it. But you know that already. So, about this book. First of all.. c'mon Brit! Stop being a DRAMA queen! Poor Philip. The start of this book is exactly after the end of the last one with Brit finding out there was a difference between her and younger Brit. I think the ideas of the book are pretty interesting: we learn more about the magic word and the file, we have a lot of time traveling, we get confused about how many versions of a person can be at the same time in the same place and confused about the reason something happens the first time. The end is really an opening for the next book and it's pretty intriguing!

The book started pretty well, but then it just took a quick trip down the stairs with time travel.

Read this, it's really fun

As a fan of the series and the narrator, I'll probably listen to books 1-3 again, but this book was a disappointment. The time-traveling was overdone and overly silly, while the characterizations/relationship of Philip and Brit were one-dimensional, untrue to the previous incarnations, and cruel.

A short instalment in the series, focuses on Philip and Brits relationship. Brit the Elder is having a small issue, and Philip tries to help out. As the Elder is the enemy of the younger, Philip has to do this sneakily, and we all know what that could possibly mean.
Martin tackles the 'Non Jawa' and finds out is is future Philip trying to distract past Philip into not helping Elder Brit. He is also having his own issues with Gwen.
The fight scene was great, and the locals wanting to be wizards (butlers) to Gary is also very humorous.
The ending was very interesting and sets up something for the next or future book.
