For a weekly challenge in a bookgroup I had to read a book in my favorite color. This book immediately came to mind. Firstly because it has my favorite color as the background and therefore most dominant color of the cover, but also because it was a really good excuse to start a new series even though I have countless of other series I should actually finish first. However, there was no way anyone could have prepared me for this book.

From the very first page this book is all over the place, but in the best way possible. There is quite a lot going on, we're meeting quite a lot of characters and yet, for some weird reason, I was never confused. And that's a miracle because there's a lot happening in this book that shouldn't be happening. Houses are flying, guys are having a million names and family relationships become more complicated with each page.

However, this book is in the very first place just incredibly entertaining. There were quite a few passages where I just laughed out loud because either the scene itself was funny or the dialogue. But there were just as many moments where my eyes were trying to read faster and faster because I had to find out what was going on and what was going to happen! Just like I really loved the throw away lines commenting on society, patriarchy and men in general.

Since there is so much going on and since the focus of this book is to entertain the feelings and emotions in this book aren't too deep. I think you can compare this book with a Shakespeare comedy. It's not about what the characters feel. It's about what they do and see and how they react to everything that's thrown at them. I was almost sad when I finished this book, but luckily the sequel is also on my shelves already. I can't wait to dive in!
