What a fantastic book to start off 2023.

This is one of the best books on witchcraft I’ve ever read. It explains the basics (as well as some more advanced practices) extremely well and provides analogies and scientific research as backups.

What I feel like a lot of “beginner” witchcraft books lack is the “why”. They often list out spells and ingredients and you find yourself just going through the motions. Psychic Witch really delves into the “what”, “how” and “why” so thoroughly.

There is so much information in this book it’s impossible to retain it all in one read. This is definitely going to be kept within easy reach at all times and become a regular reference book for me. If I could rate this 6 stars I would.

While I'm sure this book is an amazing resource for some practitioners, I found myself hating the book more and more as time went on. I definitely do not regret reading, and will be using plenty of the exercises, particularly those in the front half of the book. However Matt and I clearly have very different practices and approaches to magic. I ended up skipping or skimming large portions of later chapters, often after reading the first section of a chapter and being bored out of my mind. I committed to taking notes through the book, but in the last two or three chapters I omitted huge portions that did not apply to me or my craft. Honestly, I think I would have enjoyed this book much more if I had allowed myself to skip more sections of the book, and only really take notes or annotate the first half.
