An easy and entertaining read with lots of relatable sections. There were loads of spelling and grammar mistakes in the edition I read. 3/5

ARC received from Hachette Australia for an honest review

The Bad Mother's Book Club is my first Keris Stainton, and it won't be my last.

This book is kind of like Big Little Lies meets Bad Moms at the school pick up line.

Whilst there some book clubbing involved, it is more about he mothers, their lives and how things are not necessarily greener on the other side.

I completely adored some of the characters, some I just detested, and then there were those in the middle whom I wasn't sure, and could have fallen either way. I liked that we got them all in one novel, as we do in real life.

I liked being taken on the journey of Emma, Jools and Maggie (along with some other secondary characters) as they face the trials and tribulations of life, love, friendship.

Oh, and I neeeeed to be part of this book club.

I laughed, I got angry, I got frustrated, but mostly I smiled.

This is a fun, quick read that I look forward to going back to read again in the future.

The Bad Mothers' Book Club is a novel by Keris Stainton. It is about several mothers who meet regularly at a book club. Emma recently moved town and immediately learns who are the cool mums and that she is not one of them. Besides struggling with her kids, a dog, her husband and his job, Emma must deal with being invited in a "high-society" book club in which she does not fit. But not only Emma is struggling. This book tells the stories of several mothers.

First of all, this book confused me several times. Emma is the main-main character, but there are other mothers whose stories are told. As I was not reading this book on a daily basis, I mixed up all their stories and was confused and did not always know who was who. It would have been better to write headings and titles with the mothers' names on it to have a better overview.

In general, I enjoyed the story. It was fun to read and seemed realistic to a certain extent. There are a lot of struggles a mother has! This book deals with a lot of topics that can happen in ones live and marriage. But in the end, especially in this book, everything turns out fine. The book was not too difficult to read and I enjoyed it. It is a good summer read.

3.5 - I'm not a big chick-lit fan, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I really identified with the main character, Emma, whose life (just moved, feeling like she doesn't have a place outside of being a mom, etc.) paralleled mine at times.

I've never read a Keris Stainton book I didn't like, and I loved this one. It's clever, witty, and made me laugh, but also touches on some more serious topics. I loved the characters and their lives, especially Emma and Maggie.
