This book was not my cup of tea. I had problems with the characters, the characters’ actions, and the ideals presented in this story.

Despite the hype, it’s just another immature blonde woman from Tessa Bailey who needs to be saved by the right man (but actually needs a whole lot of therapy). Seriously, he needs a restraining order. From the very premise, I couldn’t root for their relationship, and there’s a whole cringe-worthy side plot to introduce conflict that doesn’t really make any sense.

This book was just a miss for me. The characters felt flat, especially compared to Tessa Bailey’s past work. It was hard to get invested in their relationship, it didn’t feel like they had a genuine connection. Having the love interest have a virginity kink and other misogynistic fantasies when both characters are in their thirties felt really bizarre. Some mental health topics were treated with a lot of caution (anxiety) but others like schizophrenia are tossed around to describe a chaotic outfit. Overall it was fine, but I didn’t like it enough to finish reading.

Also having the character meet when one was in junior year and the other a freshman who then develops a crush so intense it leads to borderline stalking behaviors for decades was weird. Also it was a strange choice for their reintroduction to be a face full of boobs and immediate sexualization.
