I absolutely loved this book! This was my first venture into Austen fan fiction, and it set the bar very high. Such a rewarding experience for a Pride and Prejudice fan!
I enjoyed this well enough and would generally recommend it for Austen fans. I had fun returning to this cast, time period, and story, and I finished the book ready for a reread of the original. However, there were a few things pointed out by other reviewers that also bothered me a bit, such as Caroline Bingley’s character and the more direct references to Pride and Prejudice that just reminded me that I was reading an adaptation. All this being said, it’s been a hot second since my last reread of P&P, and the audiobook is now waiting for me on my Libby shelf. I may come back to this once I’ve had a more recent reread (and get my degree—I’m tired).
Boring. Also I didn't find Mary to be much like Mary in the book, this is a totally different character.

breath-taking addition to any Austen fan’s library.
The story follows the often forgotten Bennet sister, Mary. Following the events of the original Pride & Prejudice as well as Mary’s journey after.
The story is mainly that of one who is told from an early start that they are lesser in comparison to their siblings. Mary’s journey starts at such an internalized logical fallacy and how it affects her behavior and sense of self. As the narrative continues the reader watches Mary slowly untangle those internalized chains and begin to grow in self-confidence and assurance until she is as feisty as any Austen penned heroine.
This book had me cheering and groaning in turns and I can’t recommend it enough to other Austen fans!
