There have been other sequels or retellings of Pride & Prejudice specifically centered around Mary, but I like that this mirrored the plot of P&P for the first part while delving more deeply into Mary's relationship with her parents and then continuing beyond the P&P content to tell Mary's story.

I was surprised at how much I liked this book. Considering the characters in Pride and Prejudice through Mary’s eyes gave me a different and somewhat less sympathetic perspective on most of them. I like that this book turns that familiar old story on its head.

I've always felt sorry for Mary Bennet in P & P, so unlike her other sisters and offered so little sympathy, of all the "what happened next" questions I pondered, what became of Mary was chief amongst them. This book is a hugely satisfying answer to that.
Thoroughly engaging, well written and worthy to sit alongside its big sister book. As a non fan of fan fic I highly recommend this.
