The night after Ada's failed attempt to lose her virginity to her boyfriend, she catches him cheating on her. But their family is soon off for a 9day stay in Hawaii at a yearly medical conference, so she hopes that will take her mind off things. But she's in a fight with her older sister and then her stepdad drops the bomb that he's staying home from this trip and Ada just feels worse.

This was a sweet story, full of high drama and I am here for it. I loved how flawed and real the characters were and this compulsively readable story kept me entertained from the start.

The only thing I'd previously read by this author was that terrible My Plain Jane book that was a Tome book last year, so I didn't have high hopes, but I really ended up liking this one.

This was one of my favorite YA books I’ve read in a while!! The audiobook was so good and I loved the coming of age story aspect.

The same concept over and over again. It was repetitive and did not go a single page introducing something new. It was boring and I did not like the main character.

A middle child of three sisters story. One of my favorite things. Also a favorite: the quest to lose one's virginity. Plus, it's set in Hawaii.

I love Cynthia Hand’s writing. That much has not changed. However, this one was very predictable. That said, it had wonderful conversations geared towards teens who are considering becoming sexually active. It wasn’t preachy or moralistic - just very real as it provided an clear avenue between two often polarizing sides of the “issue”. (A bit of language; sexual situations; some sexual language)

This wasn't bad or good, just consistently meh. There was a plethora of drama for the sake of spicing things up and it got to a point where enough really is enough

I loved this story for what it was—truthful, insightful, blunt (but not too blunt), and a glimpse into Ada’s attempt to figure out what love, adulthood, and sex is all about in her 16 year old way. It is a story of what it means to be a family, warts and all.
