TW: Theres a weird amount of rape that gets brushed off, but otherwise it was pretty good. It was slow at the start but the ending made up for it

"A chillingly told horror story", it is not. I don't know if it was written that way and lost it somewhere in translation, but it's a mediocre mystery rather than the terrifying horror we associate with the movies. Even the mystery aspect of it isn't fulfilling. There's no real tension, or urgency despite the 7 day deadline. You may get through the book quickly because it's an easy read, but there's no accompanying satisfaction. Meh. 2.5.
