The flavor of post-war England, but a different World War. A witch from a powerful family works as a doctor, helping those injured in the war, while hiding his magical identity. He meets a cute guy while he's at it, but the book is much more focused on the impact of war, quest for individual control over one's life, influence of family...so, so good.

I am intrigued by the world a lot, the world building is great. Magic great the issues are great.
I am not attached to the characters particularly more so the situation I want to see what happens.
The pacing was a littleā€¦ stilted

I have a lot of feelings about this book. So much happened, and sometimes it felt like TOO much was happening, but I liked how it ended and feel satisfied with having predicted the one twist I really wanted and having it come true.
