On the one hand, I hate memoirs. On the other, I actually finished this one.

This is the first of Madeleine Albright's memoirs that I've read, and it will be the last. Not that it was bad, but this book seems to encompass her whole life and I feel as though I've covered all of her other books. This book is long and also expansive. Albright covers so much: most of the presidents before, during, and after her service as secretary. Her parenting, her consulting, her speaking. Foreign affairs and the state of world. The internet and social media. Friends. Even the end of her life.

While I'm glad to be done with this book, I think I would've liked spending time with Secy. Albright. She's opinionated and believes fully in her views, but she's also self-effacing and can be quite funny. I bet she was a great dinner guest!

I learned a lot about her and definitely respect her. She made mistakes, but she did a boatload of good. She was loyal to her party and to her friends.

Madeleine Albright was an extraordinary woman. She was observant, adventurous, and humorous. She had a lot of energy and enthusiasm and never quit thinking about how she could contribute to the world and her community. She wrote several books- this one is a memoir from the years after she served as Secretary of State.

Very fragmented and didn't seem to have much of a thesis, more just a collection of stories and anecdotes. Many were quite interesting, but overall found the disjointedness distracting.

This is the first book I am reading by Madeleine Albright, but I hope not the last! She is full of energy, intelligence, and a commitment to public service and democracy. What an inspiration...and she’s into her 80’s !!!

The former Secretary of State recounts her life after serving in the Clinton Administration. She is committed to making a difference in so many ways -- working for global understanding and peace; teaching, based on her experience in government; mentoring young people, especially those marginalized; writing; modeling active (and sometimes activist) aging. Inspiring, but not as dramatic as earlier phases of her life.

Surprisingly enjoyable.  I knew the name, but this is one of several memoirs she has written, and I hadn't read earlier ones.  It focuses on her life in retirement, although there is very little retiring going on.  It was a lovely gentle way to hear about and understand some world politics.  I listened via @borrowbox
