Cherise (h) is shocked to find herself at the mercy of her former bully, Horace (H), yet again. After years of making her high school existence miserable, Horace is forcing her to be his bond mate as payment for her father's debts. She wants to resist his charm and arrogant nature, even as she finds herself attracted to him. Horace has always wanted Cherise and will do whatever it takes to finally make her his, even as he must work to convince her of his true feelings for her. If there's a Hyrrokin around, there'll be plenty of hot and steamy action. I feel like Cherise forgave Horace a little too readily, but then again bully tropes aren't my favorites. His high school bullying was too successful for my liking and having experienced bullying many years ago I have to say that I still haven't forgiven those individuals and never intend to do so.

This was my favourite in the series, it was quick, steamy and funny read. Horace seemed like a cutie but if he says 'offspring' once more.....

3.5 stars. Cherise, the female human lead, was bullied by Horace, the male alien lead, all through high school, though she always fought back. Now an adult, she’s dismayed to be summoned to Horace’s office and told he expects her to marry him to repay her father’s gambling debts. And she doesn’t believe him when he tells he’s always wanted her…
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy ex-bully romance. I don’t like bully romance but I do like this author’s writing. I enjoyed the independence and determination Cherise showed, as well as Horace’s genuine remorse and willingness to make amends, and the intense attraction between them that made attempting the relationship worth her effort. I appreciated that she didn’t immediately forgive him but worked through her justified resentment and anger as well as hearing his explanation.
