I can feel my heart cracking, the pain of it shredding to pieces, as tears still stream down my face. That ending was phenomenal! Completely redeemed book two for me.
I wish this trilogy would've been more like this book. Second I wish this book would've been longer, it felt so rushed to me, especially with such deep emotions! And come on why was there so little of Teren. I can't be the only person that completely loved his character!

At the start of the series, Adelina was a girl caught between the Inquisition and the Daggers, with both groups desiring to bend her to their own purposes. Now she is powerful in her own right, but faced with a situation in which she has to decide if she will cooperate with those who she has little cause to trust. I thoroughly enjoyed this series overall and this final installment didn’t disappoint and thankfully had a strong conclusion. So many YA trilogies start strong and then completely lose it and this is NOT one of them.
However, I still got distracted and it took me a while to finish but I think that is more where I’m at than a reflection of the writing. I’m reading the FBaA series and just wanted more epic, smutty romance and you don’t get that here (which is actually refreshing and what makes this such a strong series).
Pros: deep relationships, sister bond, villain as anti-hero, strong female leads
Cons: voices in head got distracting as escalated, more commitment to romance storyline, quotes ahead of every chapter was overdone

I've had such trouble rating this series, haha. I thought this book was like a 3.5 most of the time I was reading it but the ending was so good so now I don't know what to do, haha. Anyway I'm actually so glad the series had a happy ending because I was absolutely NOT imagining a happy ending after The Rose Society stomped on my heart. But this one was good. I liked it the least of the three books but it was still a good book.
Let me just say: I freaking love Magiano. From the first moment we met him I decided he was my favorite and him in this book was just everything.
I'm also happy at the reconciliation. I had started to dislike Raffaele a bit in The Rose Society, which makes no sense because he's so kind, but anyway, I liked him again in this one. I also loved having the multiple POVs.
Anyway, the ending was great. The whole realm of the Gods part was amazing. I never thought the series was gonna do anything like that so that was really cool. I love love love intense fantasy like that.
I like how everything settled in this book too. Enzo, Adelina's powers, Adelina as a person, Raffaele and Adelina, Lucent and Maeve, all that. Also I'm extra happy Lucent and Maeve got to get married. I'd totally read a novella about them, haha.
Last thing: I LOVED the explanation of the title like kill me that was so perfect.
Okay yeah I'm thinking the book is a 3.5 all around because while the ending was great, the whole book was just good. And good is still good but god damn goodreads doesn't give me half star ratings so I have to be picky about giving 4 and 5 stars. I mean, I might bump this up to a solid 4 upon more reflection but it's a 3.5 for now. I'm glad I finally got to read this! This was one of my favorite YA series so yeah. Great ending.

The Young Elites is one of my favorite trilogies of all time and Marie Lu writes some of the best finales! No exaggeration.
The Midnight Star is such a satisfying end to the trilogy that left me breathless. I was scared and nervous at every page anticipating how Lu would end Adelina's journey. It's definitely different from what the previous two were like, but it was just as great. The plot developed nicely and mixed in some of the folklore in clever, meaningful ways.
Marie Lu is such a fantastic writer and the way she wraps up her stories are always heartbreakingly beautiful. I can't wait to reread these books again and again. ♥

Marie Lu por lejos, en mi opinión, es una de las mejores autoras YA que existe. Esta saga es tan fantástica y asombrosa, bien hecha, con buenos personajes, representación LGBTIQ+ que es tan sutil y natural como debería serlo, personajes de pieles oscuras y claras sin distinción, fuera de todos los estereotipos... ¡puf! Una saga que sobresale de todo lo que los libros YA nos tienen acostumbrados. Es maravillosa.
El libro continúa un año después del final de The Rose Society (sí, ese final tan sorprendente). Para no hacer spoiler no diré en qué están los personajes.
Me demoré meses en animarme a leer el libro porque tenía miedo. El anterior terminó con ese aire fatal que me hacía temer que este sería terrible y doloroso. Lo fue, pero solo un poco y no en la forma en que pensaba. No es tan oscuro como podría esperarse, de hecho, Adelina pasa por una fuerte evolución en este libro. Es cierto que las voces la están llevando a la locura, pero también comienza a cuestionarse todo lo que ha logrado y el precio que pagó por ello.
Tengo que confesar que la relación con Magiano me encanta. Es una relación muy hermosa en la que él es ese ancla que la mantiene en la tierra y la aleja de las voces. No es un romance que veamos mucho, de hecho, tienen dos o tres escenas románticas el resto son pequeños detalles como él tomando su mano o ella llamándolo mientras es consumida por sus ilusiones. Y eso me encanta. Es precioso. Ninguno anda jurando amor eterno al otro como suele ocurrir en las novelas YA, ni tampoco cambian todo su mundo y se dejan controlar. No, ambos siguen siendo quienes son. Magiano ese hombre feliz y alegre que le aporta luz a la vida de Adelina y ella esa chica fuerte y decidida que le dio un propósito a Magiano. ¡El final! ¡El final fue hermoso y terrible!
Otra cosa que me encantó de este mundo fue el tema de los dioses, los ángeles y sus leyendas. También los inicios de capítulos con esos fragmentos de libros ficticios. Los amé. Acá toda la mitología toma mucho más sentido y la explicación de los Elites también. Todo fue explicado dentro de las leyendas de este mundo. Me encantó.
Eso sí, siento que no fue tan épico como pensé que lo sería en un comienzo. Fue algo más "suave" de lo que esperaba, aunque en el fondo me alegró, porque todos los finales que pasaban por mi cabeza eran muy oscuros y terribles. No era lo que esperaba como final, pero me gustó. Eso sí se sintió como poco o demasiado rápido, como que no pasó mucho solo que se nos llevó al final.
Para terminar, la review fue escrita dentro de toda mi emoción así que perdón por los errores y las continuas repeticiones. Dije "me encantó" como cien veces. Es una saga fantástica que debe ser leída y no entiendo cómo es que no tiene más fama o es mencionada mucho más. Creo que el primer párrafo que puse resume muy bien todo lo que pienso de los libros. Estoy más que ansiosa de seguir leyendo a Marie Lu en todos sus próximos proyectos.
