I've really enjoyed this book, but god was it corny. The writing is excellent as usual, and the characters are easy to love. The teammates are rich and distinctive rather than a bunch of non-descript guys which often happen in romance books.
However. The French. Oh boy, the French. I am French. I read this book in English (don't even know if translations exist). Whilst I am not French Canadian and don't know how common it is to intercede French into English like that, I know vocabulary and grammar. This book made me question certain words, gaslighting me into thinking that "capitane" was a french word. It isn't. It's misspelled. The impact of certain phrases is completly null when all I can see are mistakes in the translations or the wording. Not everything is wrong, thankfully, but enough to bother me. There are people that would support indie authors to double check foreign languages in books. Use them. Hell I would do it for free, just to spare fellow French speakers the mind boggling experience of seeing "Surprise!" (The English word) being translated into "Surprendre!" when the actual correct word would have been... wait for it... "Surprise!". Yes, sometimes French isn't that challenging.
Also, I find the lack of showering post games staggering for our two MMCs. Had to actively forget that they weren't sticky and covered in dried sweat and stinky for most of those intimate scenes...
But apart from that, this was a lovely story that was incredibly corny and full of over the top romantiscism, that was at times a tad too much. I have to agree with the whole "Tu es ma vie" "You are my life" phrases exchanged after a couple of months of meeting each other. It felt a bit too far too fast, but I guess they aren't holding back.
I particularly enjoyed the depiction of ice hockey games. Usually they are lackluster and an after thought authors scramble together because athlete MCs are the excuse they came up with to portray characters with six packs. But I felt the excitment and the pressure of the games here.

It’s me. I know it’s me.
I’m just not a huge lover of all the romance and I knew that going in but because I have enjoyed Tal Bauers writing in the past I thought I’d give this a go.
I really enjoyed the first half of this book. The dynamic between Hunter and Bryce was very sweet from the get go and I liked how flustered Hunter became around Bryce.
I wasn’t a huge lover of the amount of French used within the book. I know it’s advised to use a translator but I decided not to as I felt it would take me out of the story each time I had to search.
I enjoyed the hockey aspect of the story, albeit there was a lot of it.
Ultimately that level of romantic waxing just isn’t my cup of tea and is no reflection of this authors ability to write very lovely words.

Apparently Tal Bauer has a tendency to emotionally wreck his readers. I feel like I should have been warned.
